[SLE] Running SANE as a user ...
Hi folks I have a Mustek USB scanner which they've released a SANE package for. My problem is that I can only get the scanner working as root. If I run it as a user all I get is "no devices". I have changed the permissions on /dev/usbscanner so it can be accessed. The SANE site doesn't really help, and there are no SDB articles for this. I'd look back in the list archives, but it won't let me in :( Any help would be appreciated ... Jon

Interesting I set my new Epson Perfection 1200Photo USB up last night using the following resoources. All works well except scanning with xsane as a gimp pluggin appears to not be as good as on the windows side, but then again its much faster on my SuSE box. Observations only and Im sure I have much to learn as this is first attempt with scanning under Linux. resources used: 1. http://linuxusbguide.sourceforge.net/USB-guide-1.0.9/book1.html 2. http://www.freecolormanagement.com/sane/suse71.html 3. http://www.linux-usb.org/USB-guide/x291.html 4. http://www.mostang.com/sane/ check all your permissions. This is where I got caught: Also see the ammended suse config files that are required as described by ref 2. Let us know of your progress and if we can help Chris
