[opensuse] Possible bug in Firefox?
Firefox, on my system, has some problems showing some websites correctly. For instance: http://www.hdmi.org/ . When I hold the mouse pointer over the "Manufacturers" text in the top part of the screen, a dropdown menu appears, but most of the dropdown menu is behind the panel that is below the "Manufacturers" text, so not visible. Also this panel should contain a picture, but remains blank (white) in Firefox. I see this same behaviour on several websites. Konqueror shows this website correctly. Also Firefox on windows has no problems showing this website correctly. What I would like to know is, if others see the same behaviour of Firefox, so it's a bug, or that it is something specific to my configuration? And if the latter is the case: how do I fix this? When I first checked the site, it was ok, but then I realized that I had flashblock running, so I clicked the flash and then I ran into the same problem you had. So, it's not so much Firefox as it is Flash & Firefox. The question is, which one is actually at fault?

I'm not. It's my roommate's laptop. She bought it and it's not that bad(2Gig RAM helps of course). Not saying I would use it(cause I wouldn't), but was just posting what I had seen. As usual, it's a problem caused by Adobe. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Hoi Wilfred, (Toch maar in het engels: :-)) It's a bug related to flash. The flash object stays on top, so the menu disappears behind it. I don't have a solution unfortunately. Install Flashblock. Flash ads are annoying, and that's basically all it is anyway. IMO, Flash based sites are slow and hard to navigate. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

By using FlashBlock, you gain control over which Flash animations are loaded and displayed / activated. I recommend it highly. Additionally, it prevents this layering bug, though not, of course, when you do activate the Flash on this page.

I tried it with the flash 10 beta from http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10.html and that works well. With flash 9 I see the same problem you do. Seems to be a bug in flash for linux Anders -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I do not see this (openSuSE v10.3 x64). Maybe I'm not looking at the same sites as you are. It would have been well to mention one or two sites on which the behavior is manifested. -- Stan Goodman Qiryat Tiv'on Israel -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
