[opensuse] Mandriva releases USB Flash drive Linux distribution
For Lynn who was asking recently about a way to run Linux from a flash disk..... Available from mid-December. Linux developer Mandriva has updated its operating-system-on-a-stick with the release of Mandriva Flash 2010 which includes a bootable version of the software on a USB Flash drive. Available from mid-December, Mandriva Flash 2010 puts the latest version of Mandriva Linux onto an 8GB Flash drive, which has 6GB free for a user's own documents and files. So this is like a Live CD/DVD but on and including the stick? /Per -- Per Jessen, Zürich (5.4°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Unlike a live CD, you can actually keep your changes, and store your documents on the stick. Its not read-only. I have one of these made of Damn Small Linux. I can borrow a computer in a library, pop in my stick and type one command to boot my linux distro. -- A computer without Microsoft is like a chocolate cake without mustard. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I too, and use it frequently. I also carry a stick with puppy linux, the distro seems better supported and has access to more apps I tend to use. It also has it's own packaging system for installing apps. A bit larger than dsl, but with 16gb sticks going for < us$20..... :^) -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
