I have a working 7.0 pro installed here, and the router works fine for me. Only one thing: As soon as I reboot and it reaches its runlevel, it immediately starts dialling out - even though NO request to internet was made from my LAN. What setting could be wrong? Where shall I start my search? What logs would you need to estimate? The router does this only at first boot, when I once connect the internet and then hangup, it does only dial in again when I want to (on demand) So where to go? No ideas? ANY friendly pointer into that direction appreciated! -- *º¤.,___,.¤º*¨¨¨*¤ =Oliver@home= *º¤.,¸¸¸,.¤º*¨¨*¤ I / __|__ http://www.bmw-roadster.de/Friends/Olli/olli.html I I / / |_/ http://www.bmw-roadster.de/Friends/friends.html I I \ \__|_\ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/VGAP-93 I I \___| mailto:VGAP-93-subscribe@yahoogroups.com I

Well the dialout scripts are in /etc/ppp look for the chat, options, and ip-up script. I don't use dial-on-demand so I can only guess it is started from /etc/init.d. Look for the diald start script, and see where in /etc/init.d (in one of the rc.* directories) it is started. -- use Perl; #powerful programmable prestidigitation

It could be the dns server initialising, or some thing similar. I remember reading docs and seeing something similar to what you describe, but I can't remember where: I don't use autodial, sorry. Perhaps you could start a network tracer (sniffer) early on the boot process and get more info from it; you could see the IP/port numbers, and that would point you to the service. Somebody else could tell you which tracer can be used for the purpose; perhaps snort or tcpdump. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
