It stores them in a separate directory structure from the pictures.

This is how I do it on my Fuji 1. Create a scratch destination directory 2. run 'gphotofs <directory>' 3. Connect camera and turn on 4. Start browser. Do a split screen between <directory> and where you will store the movie 5.
