Yes. And you also must enable encrypted passwords, set up your workgroup, and do a couple of other things. Check out: http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/samba/chapter/book/index.html to find out everything you need to know. Remember, Windows 98 uses encrypted passwords. Either disable encrypted passwords in the registry, or read the Samba documentation on using encrypted passwords. Victor

SKLIM You have to create the user on linux first then use smbpasswd to set the password for that user under samba. Have a look at man smbpasswd hth Chris --Original Message Text--- From: SKLIM Date: Fri, 1 Sep 2000 09:01:01 +0800 Dear : Linux User I have configure my Linux Samba with a workgroup name 8th_floor . also, what ever user/account you establish on your linux box, should also be the same user/account that you are logged in as under winblows9x to gain access to your smb shares. good luck jason -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
