Just got round to building my new PC with components I've been buying over the last few months - but I've run into problems. The Spec Gigabyte GA-7VTXH Motherboard AMD Athlon XP1800+ 512Mb DRAM IBM Deskstar IDE-HDD 60Gb Dawi Control SCSI Controller with BIOS Toshiba SCSI DVD-ROM Yamaha SCSI CD-RW ATI Radeon 7500 AIW 1. I can't seem to boot from the harddrive. I can format it, write to it, etc.. but no booting. So far I'm just using a Windows boot disk, but nothing! I've noticed however that the ATA-100 cable that came with the motherboard has a piece missing from one of the lines in the cable for some reason. It's 13 pins in from the last pin of the cable. IS this the problem? or maybe something else is wrong? 2. I can't seem to install Linux from a bootable CD. When booting either the SuSE CDs or DVD, the SCSI controlled says it's a bootable CDROM, with no emulation. But the Motherboard fails to boot it. Booting from a home made CD, with Floppy Emulation, works ok. Any ideas? TIA RikD.
