Have you been able to get Yahoo Messenger to work at all on 9.0 (text mode)? If so, which version did you install? -- Jim Sabatke Hire Me!! - See my resume at http://my.execpc.com/~jsabatke Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for you are crunchy and good with ketchup.

Absolutely works using rh9.ymessenger-1.0.4-1.i386.rpm from the messenger download site. Ed Harrison SuSE 9.0, Kernel 2.4.21-99 PolarBar Mailer 1.25a

I'm running SuSE 8.0 Pro and have tried installing rh9.ymessenger-1.0.4-1.i386.rpm and am running into an issue where it claims it is dependant on libc.so.6 and that this is not installed, yet I have been able to verify that it is indeed loaded on my system. I don't suppose you have any ideas on how to get around this other than telling KPackage to skip dependancies, do you? Thanks, Jesse

We'll see if we hear from him again. But the suggestion "check the headers for your unsubscription address" is misleading since the default headers don't show it. My attitude is: help the guy out, whether or not he should have known better, and he'll quietly solve his problem and disappear. Paul Abrahams

Yes, for the dumb ones we should say " See Full headers ". And their client can't do that then they should email the help email address. Mutt works fine to see the headers but then again Mutt is not a Joe Sixpack client. :) list-unsubscribe: mailto:suse-linux-e-unsubscribe-ben=whack.org@suse.com -- Ben Rosenberg ---===--- #147972 ---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org -- Why do we bother with a suicide watch when someone is on death row? Why not try rh8.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx? I don't think you need rh9 version. Ed Harrison SuSE 9.0, Kernel 2.4.21-99 PolarBar Mailer 1.25a

Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for you are crunchy and good with ketchup. Jim and Ed: I am not aware of any Instant Messanger Client that allows Yahoo to use voice messaging. Yahoo's offical client for LInux does not support it. Gaim and Kopete do not support it. Your best bet would be to register a feature request with bugzilla for both Kopete and Gaim. Hope this helps. -- Yours, Ralph. Today, I tried the MS Yahoo messenger through VMWare. Sound breaks up too badly to use, but that may be an issue I can solve. Ed Harrison SuSE 9.0, Kernel 2.4.21-99 PolarBar Mailer 1.25a

Ed, What version of VMW are you using.. In version 4, sound is greatly improved, both listening and talking.. -- Gary

VMware-workstation-e.x.p-6802.i386.rpm It's a beta testing version, but it was no better under VMware-workstation-4.0.5-6030.i386.rpm. There is a new beta now available, I think. Ed Harrison SuSE 9.0, Kernel 2.4.21-99 PolarBar Mailer 1.25a

Interesting. I am using VMwareWorkstation-4.0.5-6030 without any problems at all, but I have not used IM voice, just mpegs, etc.. without the choppiness. Also, talking is so good, that I am able to use voice recognition without any problems either.. VMW's v4.X adds in a virtual soundblaster sound card, which has made all the difference.. -- Gary
