[opensuse] drupal site and recaptcha
Hello: This is the most silly/ridiculous thing I've seen recently. When I want to open any drupal.org site with palemoon browser either directly of clicking a google search result link, I get the mostly unsolvable google recaptcha instead of the expected page. Literally the page says: DRUPAL Please verify you are a human Please click "I am not a robot" to continue <google recaptcha box> Access to this page has been denied because we believe you are using automation tools to browse the website. This may happen as a result of the following: Javascript is disabled or blocked by an extension (ad blockers for example) Your browser does not support cookies Please make sure that Javascript and cookies are enabled on your browser and that you are not blocking them from loading. Reference ID: #65d14520-a196-11e8-acea-01ca0bc23399 First, it is absolutely ridiculous to protect a public website from browsing with recaptcha. Second, use of google recaptcha is a nigthmare. It takes several tries to me to solve those questions, like select pictures with store front, cars, bicyles, street signs etc., because it is very difficult to identify the details of those small pictures, and I never know if it is expected to select those pictures which shown only a little piece of the given thing, for example part of a street sign. Google recapthca is a punishment, and in my opinion an intelligent website developer never ever inserts it in a webpage. This was the rant. I would like to write to drupal.org site admins but I could not find a direct contact address. If anyone knows it, please let me know. Thanks, Istvan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

My sentiments exactly. Another one I've come across recently is every time you log in, you get a phone call to give you the authentication code. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I don't see any such problems but then I don't use palemoon although I'm not sure how relevant that is. It would be helpful if you were more specific. Give at least one actual URL that shows this behaviour when you try to access it. Does the problem only occur with palemoon or with other browsers too? If you want to contact somebody, then help@drupal.org seems like as good a contact address as any. Alternatively join their forum or IRC. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

+2 chuckling... It that signage considered part of a storefront or not? Are those spokes I'm looking through supposed to be part of a bicycle? Is a scooter a bicycle? Does car include the category of "light truck"? recaptcha has been an abysmal failure. Like return email addresses that don't work?
None of my email goes through to you so I can't respond to any of
your emails -- tried variation w/o "atty", doesn't seem to work either.
Does anyone else have lock sending email to David?
Thanks!
p.s. so many sites are doing the recaptcha crap and googles is
especially bad with tiny blur pictures combined with their confusing
definitions and whether or not they want partial matches...ARG!
Bounce from David...

Did it bounce for you or go through? I almost immediately get a "problem" message and another 4 hours later...then another at 5 days when it stops trying. The problematic part is that I can't even respond to off-list email from David (occasionally getting some). Thanks for responding/trying... FYI, I have no problems with corresponding with David and I am using Thunderbird v52.9.1. I mention the version because your Header simply states 'Thunderbird' as your mail client. And may I ask a favour of you? :-) Could you adjust your mailer so that when YOU respond to a post it would show at least the DATE of the original message you are replying to? Preferences->Advanced->Config Editor search for mailnews.reply_header_ Look for mailnews.reply_header_type You probably have a "1" in mailnews.reply_header_type which corresponds to what you're using now. "I knew that!" :-D. Thanks for this piece of information -- I just checked my own copy of TB and it is set to "2". But a couple of other entries in that area caught my eye and being rather paranoid about privacy, after what has been in the news about Facebook and giggle, I was wondering if you, or anyone, know anything about these 2 items in Config Editor: 1. mailnews.account_central_page.url which has the setting of 'chrome://messenger/content/msgAccountCentral.xul; and 2. mailnew.messageid_browser.url with the setting of 'http://groups.google.com

Many Thanks, David for this URL. I started to read it but decided that I need to devote more attention to it than I am able to do at the moment and so I have Bookmarked it. Maybe we don't trust java script? and don't want to be fingerprinted to access your site? OR worse, have your computer inspected for "malware" or open ports as in this case: When you visit the Halifax login page, even before you've logged in, JavaScript on the site, running in the browser, attempts to scan for open ports on your local computer to see if remote desktop or VNC services are running, and looks for some general remote access trojans (RATs) – backdoors, in other words. Crooks are known to abuse these remote services to snoop on victims' banking sessions. (https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/08/07/halifax_bank_ports_scans/)
First, it is absolutely ridiculous to protect a public website from browsing with recaptcha.
1) it's not really a public website. They want your info same as anyone else. or 2) More likely: they are protected by 'cloudfront's anti-denial-of-service stuff...that does the finger printing to allow through real traffic while not allowing through DoS traffic. I agree it's a royal pain. Usually have to unblock google on the site so it can dislay the captcha as well. Meaning another place google gets to know where you have been.
