On SUSE9, I have downloaded and installed KDE 3.1 from the repositories with Synaptic, having first uninstalled KDE 3.1. Although I installed all the listed KDEnetwork packages, both KMail and Knode are missing from the upgrade. In fact, quite a few programs are no longer listed in the menu. But the missing kMail is the more important at the moment. Has anyone else had this problem? I can't find it mentioned in the list archives. Many thanks Keith

I'm not sure about 3.1 but for 3.2 kmail is now in a package called kdepim. kmail conflicts with kdenetwork3 which holds up knode. I just figured it our last night and now kmail, knode, kscd, and konsole are working great. My list of bugs evaporated with one tweak. They're in separate packages. KMail is in kdenetworks3-mail KNode is in kdenetworks3-news Joe -- ftb-conman.sourceforge.net - The Future of Website Content Management Amerikanska.com - Americans In Sweden Firechild.net - My Hell On The Web

Thanks for the information, both. Joe, I have looked at two repositories and neither have kdenetworks3-mail, only kdenetworks3-news. Knode is in the news package, but, as I originally wrote, it doesn't appear to have installed. Mike, kdepim description doesn't mention KMail. I tried to install it, but it has 14 unmet dependencies, so won't install. I'll have another look at it tomorrow. Cheers and thanks again. Keith

As you have apt operational try: apt install /opt/kde3/bin/kmail apt (0.5.15 and up) will find the correct package and it's dependencies for you. -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless

Thanks for the suggestion, Richard. I did as you suggested, and just got an error message: apt-get: relocation error: apt-get: undefined symbol: _ZN3Lua15SetCacheControlEP15LuaCacheControl Looking at the message, and guessing, it would appear that there is something wrong with Lua. But I have been using Synaptic with no problems. I'll have to find out what this message means. Cheers Keith
