Screwed up Postfix, can't figure out what I did
Help! I screwd up my postfix install (from SuSE 8.2 RPMs) and now can't
figure out what I have to change to get things working again.
Yes, I was stupid, didn't comment the files I was working on, and now am
paying the price for it. would someone please be kind enough to point me to
what I might need to change, so that I can get my mail again?
Example from my mail log file...
Dec 18 13:12:12 moat postfix/smtpd[20073]: 83B651B296: reject: RCPT from
n23.grp.scd.yahoo.com[66.218.66.79]: 554

to get the default main.cf look at /usr/share/doc/packages/postfix/samples/main.cf copy that to /etc/postfix/main.cf modify /etc/sysconfig/postfix run SuSEconfig --module postfix from there on you should be able to work -- Togan Muftuoglu Unofficial SuSE FAQ Maintainer Please reply to the list; http://susefaq.sf.net Please don't CC me.

Hmm, "denevell.com" is your local domain? Add this to Postfix's mydestination. So it will be accepted and delivered locally. Without backgrounds, this is all to say. -- Andreas
Can you show us what your output is when you run postconf -n? Tom On Thu, 2003-12-18 at 11:51, Andreas Winkelmann wrote:

Also, the POSTFIX_LOCALDOMAINS variable (the value of which is conveyed by SuSEconfig to /etc/postfix/main.cf) in the /etc/sysconfig/postfix file should contain denevell.com. If it is currently null, add denevell.com, localhost.<whatever>, and hostname.<whatever> (e.g., denevell.com, localhost.denevell.com, moat.denevell.com, assuming moat is where this is taking place). If this variable is null, the main.cf file will contain mydestination = $myhostname, localhost.$mydomain and mail will be accepted only for the local host using its canonical name as well as localhost.<whatever>. Anything else will be rejected with the "Relay access denied" message. If non-null, it will contain *only* the value specified, which will break mail in an analogous fashion ("Relay access denied") for localhost and hostname.
