Re: [SLE] xntpd does not sync to time server
Thanks for the answers so far:
you use IP address 127.x.x.x is this range not reserved?
Yes, for the local clock of the xntp server :-) 127.127.1.0 by definition is the computer's own clock.
Comment out the server line with 127... Just leave two or three lines with server bla.clock.se server xxx.clock.de etc...
1) this is against the documentation as well as common sense (ok we're dealing with computers here :-) ). If the time server goes down, xntpd can't even synchronise locally because it's disabled. I hate tot hink what would happen... 2) I tried it anyway, and instead of syncing to LOCAL, xntpd sync to nothing.
Check for servers near you, its in the docs...
Yes thanks we have a stratum 1 server across campus...
Works for me.
You have more luck. I'll stay with RH6.0 xntpd... Volker -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
