Earlier this week, I posted a problem with printing landscape. I was told that I needed to install Cups 1.1.18, which I've done as per http://sdb.suse.de/sdb/en/html/jsmeix_print-cups-testversion-81.html Yast2 didn't seem to have any problems with any of the parts of this, but it appears that my new Cups isn't running. I'm assuming that I simply need to start it, but I'm not seeing how to do this. What step did I leave out? tia -- Penguins eat butterflies, don't they?

rccups restart or /etc/init.d/cups restart or use yast --> System --> Runlevel Editor -- Regards, Graham Smith ---------------------------------------------------------

I tried that, browsed to the download in konqueror, it offered a button "Install this with YaST" which I took. Told me all was well and didn't do a thing. RPM still reported the old version. Downloaded again with mozilla which gave me a good honest "save" dialog. Installed with RPM on the comand line and all is well. Last time I let konqueror/YaST do an "update", choosing a newer kernel it DOWNgraded me and left me with and a non-booting system. Konqueror is too damn clever for its own good, avoid it I say. michaelj -- Michael James michael.james@csiro.au System Administrator voice: 02 6246 5040 CSIRO Bioinformatics Facility fax: 02 6246 5166

This was my problem as well. Thanks for the info. From what RPM said, the last package was the one that didn't install. -- Penguins eat butterflies, don't they?
