8.0 - preemptible kernel patch?
Is there a preemptible kernel patch available for the 2.4.18 kernel in SuSE 8.0 ? Tried the one for the vanilla kernels, http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/rml/preempt-kernel/v2.4/ but it failed to patch correctly and so wouldn't compile. Yes, I can probably switch to using a vanilla kernel, but I'd like to keep the SuSE one for all its tweaks. TIA. Tom

I don't know where a preempt patch is for the SuSE 8.0 kernels, but you can get the low latency patch here: ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/tiwai/suse-patches/2.4.18-suse-ll.dif.bz2 I applied it yesterday and it works great! I'll post a micro-HOWTO later today to the list. That same FTP directory has preempt patches for 2.4.10, 2.4.12 and 2.4.13, but not 2.4.18 (the 8.0 default).
