Hi everyone. Are there any utilities for being able to see the cpu temperature on-screen in real time rather than have to reboot and look at the bios? SuSE 7.3 Thanks, Steve.

This was discussed about two days ago: see the sensors package and the associated docs in /usr/share/docs/packages/sensors. -- -ckm

Yes, Take a close look at /etc/sensors.conf And if you're using a default SuSE kernel, then you're in luck. No need to patch anything. Run the "sensors-detect" as root, and follow the probed options options carefully , BUT reject probing for unestablished sensors. At the end of the run, you'll be given the results of the normal probes and please pay attention to the PASSED items, for these are most likely the useable ones. You'll be instucted to insert "verbatim" the modprobe or insmod commands for the motherboard sensors in the default location of /etc/init.d/boot.local Mine, of 2 months old. BTW an ECS D6VAA has # I2C adapter driver modprobe i2c-isa # I2C chip drivers modprobe via686a This insert , enables loading of the modules on boot-up, so to grab the motherboard readouts. Remember that your sensors could be different. Also, if you have a normal SuSE /etc/modules.conf you can safely pass go, as almost all the links and call ups are activated. You can now run /sbin/SuSEconfig -quick. To be sure , also run sensors -s for the /proc/sys/..... to be linked. And to be totally satisfied like me, gather all the readings on that wonderful graphical tool called GKRELLM. WHoops... your +5.0V line just dipped below 4.75V .....<G> <G> <G>. -- Kemdi IN_SuSE_d Since 5.2 123792 of counter.li.org ICQ:112290572
