I can't get the my CD-ROM to play CD's. I am able to mount CD's just find, my /etc/fstab shows: /dev/cdrom /cdrom auto ro,noauto,user,exec 0 0 Do I need to take out the noauto? I'm assuming your talking about a audio CDs.
If so, audio CDs aren't mounted. You just play them. But you have to have
permission to read the cdrom device (/dev/cdrom). Try a chmod 0444
/dev/cdrom as root. If that doesn't work then Linux probably doesn't like
your CD drive. (Many CDROM drive are quirky when it comes to playing audio
under Linux cuz, eg, they claim to be ATAPI drives and then go and do their
own proprietary crap).
As a footnote, the "noauto" tells mount not to mount the CDROM drive when it
is told to mount all filesystems (eg via "mount -a"), such as during the
boot process.
