problem recording a piano
VIA8233 onboard sound card linked to line out of a Yamaha keyboard using krecord and alsamixergui, SuSE-9.0 The sound quality of the .wav is of excellent quality except for the odd 'fizzing' on loud sequences, especially chords. Can anyone help on this? Would a proper sound card help? Thanks, Steve.

Make sure it's definitely a line in and not a mic in. You can use one of many mixer programs to reduce the recording level (kmix, alsamixer, ...) or maybe the keyboard has a line-out attenuation control?
Would a proper sound card help?
Maybe, but nut really unless you're looking to pay £100+ for it (IME) HTH Dylan
Thanks, Steve.

Hi, How are you determining the proper level of the input signal? Try turning the volume down to avoid clipping or other overdriving of the sound card. PeterB On Saturday 14 February 2004 01:34 pm, steve-ss wrote:
