Listmates,
11.1 is just plain frustrating! Every time I boot it up I end up filing another bug report on things that have worked since 8.0? The latest is the sysconfig editor. You can't add an apache2 module
you are right that such thing should work. It works on my config (i386). But this YaST part is one of the most unfriendly ever... and ever was, so if you happen to use the ncurse version and though use console input, why don't you change directly the /etc/sysconfig/apache2 file? it's not more difficult jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://valerie.dodin.org http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-eic8MSSfM http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1412160445 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I was avoiding manually editing the file because IIRC a manually edited file takes that file out from under SuSEConfig's control. I don't have a list of all the files it applies to, but I do recall it being an issue [God knows how long ago]. Somebody current will have to let us know if it still works that way. -- David C. No, it doesn't break. You can edit, manually, any value in any file under "/etc/sysconfig/", and then apply the changes using "SuSEconfig". It works. If the next time you use YaST, it will also work - and if it doesn't, it is a bug. What it breaks is, for instance, if you edit the "/etc/postfix" files instead of "/etc/sysconfig/postfix". From that point SuSEconfig will notice the manual change and refuse to apply its own changes. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. Thanks Carlos, That was the issue. SuSEConfig must be really P.O.'ed with me then, because I edit just about everything in /etc manually :-D -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. the real problem is when one realize he shouldn't have changed a system file, to explain YaST to do the job again. I don't know how to do :-( I read once that YaST keep a md5sum of any (config) file, but it's very old in my mind :-( jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://valerie.dodin.org http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-eic8MSSfM http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1412160445 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Reminding that my mind is *really* old, look under /var/adm/SySconfig/md5 and rm the particular file. When you next run SySconfig, the md5 checksum will be regenerated and YaST/SySconfig will honor the new values as it's own :^). note: SySconfig compares the md5 checksum to see if the file has been altered so that it does *not* make changes that disagree with the ones you have already made. If the md5 checksums agree, SySconfig does not know that you have manually edited the file. note2: I was the one complaining that manual changes to postfix did not persist even after removing the md5 checksum as described above. I believe that I filed a bugzilla after being told that this could not happen, BUT the old memory I have doesn't present the dates and numbers :^(. -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
