[SLE] problems with network card!!
Hi folks, well maybe you already know me because of all the dumb questions I ask here. But I really don't have anyone else to ask. So Please I ask for your help . I have an @Home connection to the internet, and I inatalled SuSE 6.1 on my computer. I put all the data provided for the company in the setting for the net. I get this from the dmesg command ----- tulip.c:v0.90 10/20/98 becker@cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov eth0: Macronix 98715 PMAC at 0x2400, 00 80 c6 f8 3e c0, IRQ 11. ------- So, the card is recognized. But when I give ifconfig I get the following: ----- eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:80:C6:F8:3E:C0 inet addr:24.113.223.159 Bcast:24.113.223.191 Mask:255.255.255.192 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:6 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:12 collisions:0 txqueuelen:100 Interrupt:11 Base address:0x2400 lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:3924 Metric:1 RX packets:26 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:26 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 ----- I think that the last output is wrong. the "eth0" interface is not working I was checking the lights of the card in the back of the computer and it doesn't even blink. I guess that means that the card is recognized but the interface can't get up correctly. Therefore anything to configurate it is not going to work. any suggestions about this? By the way I installed redhat in anothe partition and the result from "ifconfig" is exactly the same.
