same here, on a 32bit with geforce 5700. but i DO see the same hangs (and with strace against the googleearth process, i see a flood of "illegal ioctl"), on a 64bit 10.1 with a radeon xpress 1100... So its either 64bit or radeon (i blame the latter). bye, MH -- Die unaufgeforderte Zusendung einer Werbemail an Privatleute verstößt gegen §1 UWG und 823 I BGB (Beschluß des LG Berlin vom 2.8.1998 Az: 16 O 201/98). Probably right. Although It did work on 10.1 it was far slower than the windows version. Did you send this strace to google? -- _____________________________________ John Andersen

Did you send this strace to google?
there is an address at google to get actual help with the linux version??????????? I posted it on the community forum, in a thread about problems with graphics cards on linux... then some wiseguy actually suggested that i should disable direct rendering, because "most 64bit cpus have enough horsepower to power googleearth without hardware acceleration"... that was the point where i thought "Ah, the blind are discussing colors" and turned my back on that forum... anyways, whats the adress to send that strace? bye, MH -- Die unaufgeforderte Zusendung einer Werbemail an Privatleute verstößt gegen §1 UWG und 823 I BGB (Beschluß des LG Berlin vom 2.8.1998 Az: 16 O 201/98). No, however about 6 months ago I was googling around and found a tech support contact email, I'll see if I can dredge it up. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen

It was nuke-the-drive-and-reinstall upgraded from 10.2 and after that I re-installed GE. It does launch and show the logo, and pulls 100% cpu, but never gets any farther. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I had the same problem with my SUSE 10.1, ATI M9 and ATI's proprietary drivers. However, with openSUSE 10.2 and using the open-source drivers (the ones that come with openSUSE), everything works fine. openSUSE 10.2, KDE 3.5.5 Release 45, ATI All-In-Wonder 8500DV using radeon driver with 3D enabled and all is well. Works very well and fast considering the age of my stuff. Stan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
