[SLE] Re: [[SLE] Compiling a kernel]
If you install the lx_suse package through yast, the link from the /usr/src/linux-2.2.13-SuSE --> /usr/src/linux will be automatically created. Of course, you can add as many source packages as your hard drive can handle, you just have to relink from /usr/src/linux-x.x.x --> linux before compiling and installing libs. OK, this is a raw newbie question that the SuSE 6.3 manual does not really clear up for me.
On the 6.3 installation CDs, there are 2 Linux sources: package linux and package linclude, which seem to make up one version, and package lx_suse, which makes up the other.
As a guess, I think that I should install the lx_suse package, create a symbolic link to that directory and call the link 'linux', and then I can create kernel images according to the instructions, right?
Assuming that this is correct, under what circumstances would I want to compile the other set of code, which I am guessing is "standard" linux code?
Thanks,
