RE: [SLE] How do I start Helix Gnome?
Oooh, I'm going to add to the KDE v Gnome debate - I didn't like Gnome. I thought KDE was far better. But running GnomeHelix I am now a convert. It has come a long way since the earlier versions. It looks great, and performance between KDE and GnomeHelix are inseperable on all my machines. KDE at the mo still looks like it has been designed by a 4 year old - it has a babyish interface that doesn't look professional. It might have well designed code, but the people in the GUI design department needs to leave the nursery before it will be accepted. I am waiting to see what KDE 2.0 is like before I commit myself and make a comment as to which will get the most votes. I don't want flames for not liking KDE as much as I do GnomeHelix! I do like choice - you don't get that with some other OSes. Oh, and the majority of apps I run are still Kapps. KDE does have some great utilities for making my life easier. I agree! Gnome-Helix rocks... * Kevin Jackson (kevin.jackson@jhallpr.demon.co.uk) [000608 16:27]:

What part of KDE's excellent interface didn't you like? Have you tried KDE 1.1.2, with enhanced icons on for size? KDE 1.1.2 also supports themes, like GNOME, so pick something else if you prefer... Anyway, how can you beat some of the features coming in 2.0 - Konqueror, KOffice, KMagellan? -Tim ----------------------------------------------------------------- Timothy R. Way to Win95/98/Macish for me. I didn't like those interfaces long before I started using Linux/xBSD so why should I like them now? Have you tried KDE

There are some excellent apps with KDE and Gnome. If some of their integration breaks by not using their approved window manager, then so be it. Or you could use XFCE which is fully gnome and KDE compliant, but much nicer and in no way resembles M$ krap. http://www.xfce.org Greg Thomas wrote:
