Crushes of OOo Writer and Calc on SUSE 10 OSS

Hi people! I am using SUSE 10 OSS for a month or so in my office. It is really much better than Fedora Core 4 or Mandriva 2006. The only irritating problem I have so far is that OO.org 2.0 build 2.0.0.1 crushes suddenly when I am working on a Calc spreadsheet and a Writer Document simoultaneously. In the beginning I thought it should be my working in MS Office formats, so I have converted to OpenDocument's. But the problem persists and I cannot understand why it is happening. Maybe the reason is scarce RAM? I have only 256MB. The only pattern I can see in all those crushes is that they happen when I have both Calc and Writer opened and I copy/paste something to/from these OOo applications. An example: A while ago, I was working on a OpenDocument Spreadsheet with only 100 written lines and some elementary string functions. In parallel, I had opened an OpenDocument Text of 22 pages in plain Greek text. I was just pasting from the latter to an external text file (Kate) and pasting into the spreadsheet some names from the Konqueror switching back and forth with ALT+TAB. All of the sudden, OOo crushed. No error signal no nothing. Just crushed. The same, more or less, occured in the past crushes. Can anybody help me understand why this happens? Where to look for answers? I do not loose any data since OOo recovers nicely the documents, but it is annoying. The annoying thing is that OOo 2.0 in FC4 works without any crushes. I have and Intel Celeron 2.6, 256MB RAM. Thanks in advance, --Dimitris

Start OpenOffice in a xterm (enter "OOo") and check if there are error messages. Also mutt. Den Feind auf seinem eigenen Territorium besiegen. [Ratti]

You might try to process the documents in kword and kspread. As long as you use OpenDocument the applications that you use shouldn't matter. -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless
