plasma screen resolution 1365x768
Hi, We're investigating the use of plasma screens. Almost all plasma screens have a native resolution of 1365x768 (16:9). However, I can't find a graphics adapter that can display this resolution. Has anyone experience with plasma screens? And how did you fix this problem?

Some of the newer graphics drivers for windows have selections that include 16:9. For Linux there is not a problem. Just set it up manually in the monitor configuration.

We have been running 864x480 and 1280x768 for some time, and have great fun with the W98 machines, but not had a problem with a custom set-up on the Linux Boxes -- Lester Caine ----------------------------- L.S.Caine Electronic Services

I can't help directly, but since you're still at the investigation stage, make sure you consider these: http://www-132.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=-840&langId=-1&partNumber=9503DG5&storeId=1 I've heard horrible things about plasma screens, like life expectancy of only a few thousand hours. That could be old news by now, but make sure you check. Those IBM LCD displays are about double the resolution of plasma screens (3840x2400). I don't know how the prices compare. I do know, however, that Linux will drive the IBM screens - I've seen it do it. It needed two graphics cards and a modified XF86 driver, and should be an open solution. BTW, when I first saw one of those screens about 18 months ago they cost $28K. They're now $8K. Quite a saving! --
