[SLE] 3D graphics and animation tools for linux?
Does anybody have a favorite 3D graphics tool they use with Linux? I am particularly interested in the representation of mathematical surfaces and solids. I am also interested in the animation of graphical representation of mathematical objects which change over time (or what ever parameter you chose as time). A long time ago I got my hands on a tool called polyray. I believe it had povray at its core. As I was writing this, I did a search on polyray and found it to be available online. Believe it or not, I found it in Germany of all places. I will take a look at this after work. I am still interested in others' input. This is a log standing interest of mine. I have been trying to do such things with mathematica, but it seems overly obtuse. There is Blender (http://www.freshmeat.com) which does 3D graphics and animation, it isn't GPL, but it is a free (as in beer).
