Have upgraded from nv driver to nvidia, but now I cannot get the graphical desktop back on. Systemn is SuSU8.1 with GeForce2 MX400 card, and flatpanel monitor. When Xserver starts, I get a message from the monitor, that it is in Invalid Mode, FH: 79,9kHz FV:75.0 Hz. Everytime i try to run sax2 I get this message, not being able to change anything. Already fiddled around in /etc/X11/XF86Config, deleting lines with high modes (1280x1078), but this does not help. Anybody can be of some help please??? TIA L1

Did you recompile the default kernel any time? If so, you have to recompile the nvidia kernel module as well, they must match.

That means that the frequency range you entered, or that sax detected, of your monitor, is wrong (HorizSync and VertRefresh lines).

You could try "sax2 -r", so that it rescans the hardware. Then, make sure to test all the video modes you activate before saving.

It is not a question of high modes, but the frequency that those modes use. A flat panel monitor have lower frequency ranges than a CRT type. Check the documentation of your monitor, it will tell you what frequencies it has available. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
