[opensuse] Reinstalled v11.3
After another period when I was unable to reinstall the v11.3 that I messed up, I now have a happily running installation on fresh partitions, and I have begin to transfer data from the wreckage of the corrupted one. Everything I have checked on the new installation, which is still running kde v4.4.4; given that v11.4 is announced for release in March, I think it makes more sense to wait for it to bring an up-to-date kde with it. What I want to do now is to get the Address Book into Akonadi. What I have transferred into the new installation is a folder containing a large number of small of individual files (*.vcf), each with a gibberish name, relating to individual contacts. I found these files in folder <~/.local/share/contacts>. I have not found information that might help me deal with this array of encrypted files to get them into a single large file, and to integrate it with Akonadi. I would appreciate help in finding what I need to do. Beyond that task, I think the only other KDE data that needs to be transferred is the message-folder structure of Kmail. I have spent quite a lot of time trying to locate it in the corrupted installation (which I can access in runlevel 3), but withiut success. These files are not encrypted in any way; they are just standard vCard text files, one per contact (admittedly with auto-generated filenames). If you want one file with all of your contacts, just concatenate them together (cat * > ../contacts.vcf) . You should be able to import that on your new install.

Probably ~/.kde4/share/apps/kmail. Regards, Tejas -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
