These files are not encrypted in any way; they are just standard vCard text files, one per contact (admittedly with auto-generated filenames). If you want one file with all of your contacts, just concatenate them together (cat * > ../contacts.vcf) . You should be able to import that on your new install.

Beyond that task, I think the only other KDE data that needs to be transferred is the message-folder structure of Kmail. I have spent quite a lot of time trying to locate it in the corrupted installation (which I can access in runlevel 3), but withiut success. Where is it?
