RE: [SLE] Please Help a Newbie - move file from Windows to Linux
Hi Tor -----Original Message----- From: Tor Sigurdsson [mailto:tosi@orku.net] Sent: 03 May 2002 00:40 To: keith Subject: Re: [SLE] Please Help a Newbie - move file from Windows to Linux -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 What is the behaviour of your mouse when you boot the machine ? Erratic movement ? No movement at all ? Or no mouse cursor at all ? The mouse is displayed in the middle of the screen with No Movement What so ever. And just for everyone else, it is a radio-controlled mouse and keyboard. Their respective connectors from the transceiver are plugged into their respective PS/2 sockets not USB ports. Also I am not using a KVM switch. The keyboard works perfectly at all times. The mouse functioned perfectly during the installation process but then ceased to work following a re-boot. I remember seeing the mouse protocol used during the installation as being /dev/psaux and have tried PS/2 and usbmouse, even unplugging the mouse and then reconnecting it to see if it is detected as plug-and-play in all three protocols but to no avail. Please bear it in mind that those of us new to Linux don't know all the commands and shortcuts so would you please be a little more explicate when explaining what we should try. Regards Keith Jacobs

Keith, I am gonna ask the dumb questions here. Have you checked your connection? Have you checked your batteries in the mouse & receiver? Don't you have to press a little button on the mouse to link it to the receiver on those too? If the keyboard is working, then the receiver is probably working ok as it is used for both devices, right? Just some thoughts, you probably have checked all that already. Yes the mouse is working perfectly in Windows, which I have to keep booting back into to access my e-mail. As I have said repeatedly the mouse worked fine during the installation of SuSE 8.0 but stopped working after a re-boot. I can now access a tar file I downloaded from a website that is supposed to contain a Linux mouse driver for IntelliWheel mice that should work. However I don't know what to do with this file, it looks like a Windows Zip file as I can open it and see more files, how do I extract them? Regards Keith Jacobs
