[opensuse] -FxM.avi , somebody knows how to play these?
Trying to play an avi file I just downloaded, I get the info that although xine finds a demux for avi it cannot process this avi file. Are there different kinds of avi files? Following info I retrieved from xine in 10.2: ->file:///media/disk/M..%20&%20Me.2008DvDRip..Eng- FxM/M..%20&%20Me.2008DvDRip..Eng-FxM.avi< xine: couldn't find demux for Following info I retrieved from xine in 11.0 02:27:33 PM: xine: found input plugin : file input plugin 02:48:22 PM: xine: couldn't find demux for >file:///media/disk/M.. %20&%20Me.2008DvDRip..Eng- FxM/M..%20&%20Me.2008DvDRip..Eng-FxM.avi< 02:48:22 PM: xine: found input plugin : file input plugin 02:48:20 PM: xine: found demuxer plugin: image demux plugin 02:48:20 PM: xine: found input plugin : file input plugin 02:48:06 PM: xine: couldn't find demux for >file:///media/disk/M.. %20&%20Me.2008DvDRip..Eng- FxM/M..%20&%20Me.2008DvDRip..Eng-FxM.avi< 02:48:06 PM: xine: found input plugin : file input plugin I renamed the avi file into M...avi but that also did not change anything. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Yes. Even with Windows it is not sure that it will play. http://manifest-tech.com/media_pc/avi_formats.htm -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I have found that the only video types I cannot play in Linux are the DRMed ones. As long as you have the w32codecs installed, you should be able to play any and all formats... even more than your average Windows user can play. So... make sure you've grabbed the latest w32codec rpm from the Packman repository... and try again. Yes, avi is just a container for a multitude of different encoding formats (Divx, Xvid, mpg4 etc.). Philipp -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
