I dont suppose you kno wexactly what sound card it is? If you dont try to find out...looking at the compaq site might help, as would looking in System properties in Win95 (control panel or right click my computer then clock properties). meanwhile install the ospo package on the suse cd's under snd. follow the instructions in /usr/doc/packages/opso they basically say to go to /tmp/opso... and run ./oss-install. If that doesnt work you might need to compile sound support into the kernel which gets a little trickier. You can look at the sound howto for this. Also check out /usr/src/linux/Documentation/sound directory. Theres lots of information there about sound cards. Also note that if your sound card is a PCI card, the opso package s not for you. (also if you want to check to see if you have opso installed already type rpm -qa | grep opso). -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
