[SLE] YAST2 - Edit and Create Users - SOLVED!
Hi, all. For the list's info: I was experiencing the following error when running Yast2 | Security and Users | Edit and Create Users or Edit and Create Groups: <original post> The script halts with the following error: "Cannot read system user settings" This happened with a previous installation when I created users from the command line and from within Yast2. It has happened again, although I only use the command line and run /sbin/SuSEconfig frequently. </original post> I would like to thank Carlos Robinson for his unselfish time and effort and Jeff Hodge for their help. At the end of the day, I believe it was the following that solved my problem: <solution> Saw the problem you were having with yast and the "Cannot read system user setting" problem. I had the same problem and was able to solve it by checking /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow and removing any empty lines in the file, including a double space at the end of the file. Hope this helps. </solution> It did.
