Trying to set up remote graphical access via VNC to a SuSE 8.2 box with KDE 3.2.3 installed. The VNC portion of the setup is fine; users can connect to the box and they get a totally blank X session as user nobody. But, there is no kdm login screen appearing in the X window. The SuSE Release notes say to run "SuSEconfig --module kdm3" and restart the X server. With the kdebase3-SuSE package removed however, YaST reports that there is no kdm3 module. As I understand it, the kdebase3-SuSE package should not be reinstalled after upgrading KDE. If true, then what changes need to be made manually to enable remote graphical login? Thanks! There is no technical reason to avoid re-install of kdebase3-SuSE. Its just a PITA since YaST, apt/synaptic and Red Carpet need to remove it whenever you add/remove/change software. Try re-installing (manually or via Konqueror or kpackage) kdebase3-SuSE and see if that helps. I haven't gone to KDE 3.2.3 on SUSE 9.1 Pro yet but this problem occurred in SUSE 9.0 with KDE 3.2.1 and 3.2.2. Stan

No problem with this in 9.1 Stan. Everything behaves very nicely and nothing is lost or produces a conflict. Sometimes they really work! ;o) Lee -- --- KMail v1.6.2 --- SuSE Linux Pro v9.1 --- Registered Linux User #225206 On any other day, that might seem strange...
