I used the Folder Properties on a folder called Tumbleweed that is described in Kmail as a "Mailing List" and selected the "Subscribe to list " option and pressed <Invoke Hander> and it opens an email to send to "factory- join@lists.opensuse.org" with no subject or body (apart from my signature) and i just sent it just like that.
Regards.

Hi Ian,
Using kmail as well. - I used my @opensuse.org email to subscribe to whatever mailing list. - All ML emails end up in the Inbox of that account - For each list I have a folder: Factory, Arm, Support etc etc - For each folder I set it to be an ML one, incl the other settings for MLs - For each list I have a filter on the List-ID, that moves the mails to the associated folder, see ^^ That is about it, and has been for > 12 years. -- Gertjan Lettink a.k.a. Thats how I also do it, it just seems the Tumbleweed one that fails me. opensuse:tumbleweed:20230802 Qt: 5.15.10 KDE Frameworks: 5.108.0 - KDE Plasma: 5.27.7 - kwin 5.27.7 kmail2 5.23.3 (23.04.3) - akonadiserver 5.23.3 (23.04.3) - Kernel: 6.4.6-1- default - kernel-firmware-radeon 20230724

I think i've just found the problem. When pressing "Reply" or "Reply to Mailing List" in order to reply to the list confirmation email, they both send it to "factory@lists.opensuse.org" even though the email says "Note that simply sending a `reply' to this message should work from most mail readers.". I had to create a new email to send to factory-request@lists.opensuse.org with the confirm string in the body. I'm sure this used to work fine for other lists. opensuse:tumbleweed:20230802 Qt: 5.15.10 KDE Frameworks: 5.108.0 - KDE Plasma: 5.27.7 - kwin 5.27.7 kmail2 5.23.3 (23.04.3) - akonadiserver 5.23.3 (23.04.3) - Kernel: 6.4.6-1- default - kernel-firmware-radeon 20230724

That reply must have gone to the list instead of the confirmation address. The confirmation email comes from factory-confirm.......@lists.opensuse.org If you do a reply, it goes to factory@lists.opensuse.org but the email content says if you send an email with the "confirm ........." text in it, it should go to factory-request@list.opensuse.org - i'll try the process again and send a new email instead of replying

Right.
If you do a reply, it goes to factory@lists.opensuse.org
That is clearly wrong - maybe an issue with kmail ? The reply has to go to the complete confirmation address - factory-confirm+longhexkey@lists.opensuse.org I have just subscribed, the process works fine. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (20.6°C) Member, openSUSE Heroes (2016 - present) We're hiring - https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Heroes

I have just subscribed, the process works fine. I've just had a thought. I always use "reply to mailing list" so i think that might be why its going to the wrong place. i'll check it when i get another confirmation email.

Just checked and both "Reply" and "Reply to Mailing list" both send to factory@lists.opensuse.org I composed a new email to the correct email address, factory- request@lists.opensuse.org, and I'm now on the list.
