[opensuse] Firefox controls by Search???
recently i get directed to search.com a lot. and most of my bookmarks are Search labeled (the icon is "S"). I dont know what i did with firefox, perhaps coz of addons?? How do I get rid of this annoying Search? Sometime when I browse to some sites like opensuse.org, firefox will report that the website could not be found. But if i refresh the page, it shows as normal. Of course this is very annoying coz i need to refresh most of the time ... i am using opensuse 11.1 64 bit -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Remove .mozilla/firefox and a new profile will be created the next time you start firefox. If you have any bookmarks in the old profile, you can move bookmarks.html into the new profile. Yes, Firefox will create a new .mozilla/firefox and profile if you mv the old, but as of Firefox 3 your instruction wouldn't necessarily make your old bookmarks available within your new profile. FF3 will only use bookmarks.html on a first profile use subsequent to having been used for FF2 or prior. FF3 uses places.sqlite for bookmarks, not bookmarks.html. One way to avoid the circular problem is to create a new profile manually by starting firefox with -profilemanager, and selecting a freshly created profilename and directory into which you first copied bookmarks.html. On first regular start Firefox will create its initial places.sqlite using the bookmarks.html file it found, after which it will be ignored. Alternatively, you can use a standard newly created profile and import bookmarks.html into it. -- "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it." move your firefox configuration away from where firefox expects and see it if corrects your problem. Then you can return one file at a time until you determine which causes your problem, remove that file and move your *old* configuration back. mv ~/.mozilla/firefox ~/.mozilla/firefox.old firefox will recreate its configuration. MidNightCommander would be my choice for manipulating the files. mc ~/.mozilla/firefox ~/.mozilla/firefox.old gud luk, -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
