Wrt $SUBJ, it is certainly possible - where I worked in the late 80s, we we had such microwave links. Generally speaking, line-of-sight is the limitation. Radio-amateurs regularly run SHF links of 10-50km. There is no reason the same wouldn't work with plain 2.4GHz wireless equipment, although decent directional aerials would be required. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (26.0°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Sorry, returned to wrong list. Don't you just love mail lists that don't automagically return to the list! -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Unneeded comment and off-base. Has been discussed/griped/trashed to death and reasoning explained. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

http://www.streakwave.com/Product-Ubiquiti.asp At one point, I was going to join a local wireless network in Santa Fe, NM run by a bunch of volunteers. They used these Ubiquiti antennas. They used omnis for the nodes of the network and parabolic antennas on the clients homes. The real work was in all of the network configuration. -- Tony Alfrey tonyalfrey@earthlink.net "I'd Rather Be Sailing" -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
