Actually it's an intel 486 processor he only needs it to do hand writing recognition & sketching in gimp. I think the hard part for him will be to get the hand writting recognition software but dos and windows can do it why not linux? He's pretty obsessed with the odd machine. Ian
I've seen Wacom Tablet support in the 2.2 and 2.3 kernels, but I don't know much about using a stylus-type device. You mentioned that it has a PCMCIA slot? I would assume that it would be possible to pull the disk out and do the install on another machine, but this is strictly an assumption. I've seen lots of `similar' devices running Linux, but not that one in particular. Have you checked /. or Freshmeat? -- -=|JP|=- Jon Pennington | Atipa Linux Solutions jpennington@atipa.com | http://www.atipa.com Kansas City, MO, USA | 816-241-2641 x121 I've searched slashdot, freshmeat google.com/linux etc. This machine has 4 pmcia slots. I didn't realize there was wacom support in the kernels that is really cool. I need to go through the kernel docs sometime I know my hardware I just have trouble with other peoples hw. I think we will just try to installl suse and then build a custom mini kernel. It's been years since I compiled kernel on a 486 lol. I'm running 2.3.51 & 2.2.14 the 2.3's are suprisingly stable.
