RE : [SLE] RE : [SLE] Cups problem (solved)
I found the problem. I was using the -m switch to lpadmin, and I have to use the -P switch. It then gunzip the appropriate ppd.gz from /usr/share/cups/model/... to /etc/cups with the appropriate name. Everything works fine now. Thanks! Hi again,
When I create a printer through Yast, I have no problem and it prints correctly. However, I can't change printer options like cpi and margins, and through Yast I think I cannot create more instances of the same printer? If I could do everything with Yast I wouldn't have problems but I think I have no choice but to go in command line for what I want to do.
I don't have anything under /etc/cups/ppd nor /etc/cups/interfaces

Hello,
I configured a printer (a Lexmark W810) in command line
On Jun 29 08:59 Hemond, Steve wrote (shortened): this way : #
lpadmin -p w810 -E -v socket://172.17.104.10 -m Optra_W810-Postscript.ppd.gz
I guess that you don't have a PPD in /etc/cups/ppd/w810.ppd but you may have something in /etc/cups/interfaces or nothing at all.
Either specify the PPD correctly - see the lpadmin man page or see http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2004/05/jsmeix_print-cups-in-a-n utshell.html or use a good PPD (perhaps your PPD is broken) see "man cupstestppd".
