Hi all, Till 8.0, I was able to locate files MD5SUMS in important directories - and was able to verify the integrity of files that I had downloaded before trying to install - and screwing up an existing workstation. Now I am in the process of FTP downloads of 8.1 and I can not see any such file anywhere? I believe there are SuSE officials on this list - may be they can answer this? By any chance - is this a deliberate effort to make people buy the packed set? [shudder] I hope not - because to many like me, FTP may be the only install - available as well as affordable. The FTP version still has the same MD5SUMS on the same place as before, I don't know about what you speak. ls-lR.gz has no mention of any MD5SUMS anywhere at all. Similarly - for INDEX.gz. No mention of MD5SUMS. In the 8.0 tree - from ftp.suse.com - ohhh ! They also have no mention of either directory specific INDEX.en etc files nor MD5SUMS. This was completely my mistake to assume that MD5SUMS/INDEX.en would be found in ls-lR.gz or INDEX.gz of the root directory. As the proxy server is down - I can not even dis/claim right now whether these files are there. As I have been corrected, those must be there. Deduction : Those wishing to mirror the tree, would need to take care that they can not get an exhaustive list of all files to download from any file in the tree. If they build the file-list to download [through scripts], then they are bound to miss the INDEX.en/xxx and MD5SUMS files at the very least.
