Hi... I have 2 servers. One is SuSE Enterprise Server 8.0 and another is SuSE Linux 8.2 . I want to make clustered Servers, so if one is failed (down) than the other will takeover the tasks of the failed server automatically. Any body have a good experience in doing that with SuSE Linux? I need a recommendation which product I should use. I don't want to be trapped into a device driver problem and I also don't want to be trapped into a usage complication. Please give me your advices... Thank you very much in advance. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Win a $20,000 Career Makeover at Yahoo! I don't think drbd will work well with different versions of SuSE. It's designed as a "network raid 1" solution. The drives need to be the same size, and the OS need to be the same also. I think this is going to be a problem for any solution involving failover. The systems need to be nearly identical for this to work properly. -- Neil Schneider pacneil_at_linuxgeek_dot_net http://www.paccomp.com Key fingerprint = 67F0 E493 FCC0 0A8C 769B 8209 32D7 1DB1 8460 C47D Fires can't be made with dead embers, nor can enthusiasm be stirred by spiritless men. It shouldn't matter. The drives can be of different sizes as long as the partions being made redundant are of equal size. -- Louis D. Richards LDR Interactive Technologies

Any body have a good experience in doing that with SuSE Linux? You want to have a look into heartbeat. Included with SuSE Packaging. Read the getting-started.html and you should be away. Watch out that you use the same version on both. Might need to compile source. HTH Dan -- buddha 2.4.21-166-default 4:20pm up 6:51, 1 user,
