64bit 9.2 (Patch CD1 RC3): rescue floopy?
Hi! I have a 64-bit opteron system that did not install with the original FTP disks. I got it installed with the patch cd from ftp.suse.com/pub/people/aj/PatchCD (thanks Andreas). Most things are fine, except that we had trouble with the updated driver for our SATA RAID (3w-9xxx) and we ended up with system that didn't boot. Of course we had LVM set up... and you as you can guess, the SuSE recovery systems could not handle the LVM. Somehow we did get it mounted again and installed the default kernel again and the server booted. But this made us think of future situations like this... How to create the rescue and module disks as descibed in 2.8.3 Creating a boot, rescue, or module disk in the admin guide? I do not see that in the Yast / System...? -- Hugo.
