Hey, Trying to set up Quake 3 Arena...went out and purchased it from Stop and Shop Software (Ebworld)...$9 bucks...what a bargain. I install the game with no probs. Then after it finishes I try to run the game...well it tells me I have no default .cfg file in .q3a/demoq3...I looked in the .q3a directory...and all I have is baseq3 directory. So I copied the folder to demoq3 because I figured this is what it would do until I put my key in....but that seems a little clunky to me...shouldn't that have been done with some script during the install or the first time I launched the game. anywho, then I get a shared libGL.so error..which is probably my fault because I probably have no clue when it comes to shared object files...someone can tutor me on that is they wish or point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. As long as you were fully root when you installed it it should have been no problem...Also, try running as a user, then as root. LibGL problem signifies a problem when ever you run a 3D app... Please tell us your vid card :-). Matt

See my previous post for hardware specs. And I did install it as root. Then I tried to run it as myself...then as root Thanks for all the help you guys. I really appreciate it. Brian D.
That's what the list is about. If you get a chance, jump in and help others. I'm a newbie of about a year, and there are guru's that have been in IT, etc,... for over 20-30 years. It doesn't matter, it's about helping ppl get comfortable with Linux and solving any problems that might happen (and spreading the word about that evil empire). The list only works when "everyone" plays a part. It's also ok to get into a heated debate - just remember that it isn't the same as a flame. We let the other group waste their time with that. Welcome to SuSE. Cheers. Curtis :) On Tuesday 05 June 2001 08:55 pm, Brian Dunaway wrote:

Ok. Need to know your Vid card, your distro and version, and the drivers (all of them - look in /usr/lib/GL to start). Mail that info back and we'll start from there. Cheers. Curtis Rey On Tuesday 05 June 2001 08:07 pm, Brian Dunaway wrote:
