I note that on SuSE 9, 9.1, 9.2 the OOo/ZIP file associations are frelled. Out of the box, the *.sxw, *.sxc, *.sdw, etc., all have the ZIP icon and when I edit the file type I find that the OOo files all have the *.zip extension listed, rather than the extension that they actually are. When I correct the OOo extension in the 'edit file type' area and supply the correct icon, all ZIP files replicate that change ...and vice versa when I operate on the ZIP file type and correct it. I am extremely weary of this problem! There just has to be an answer to this... or is it a *major_oversight* on the part of KDE, SuSE or OOo (whoever is responsible)?? -- ..."Yogi" CH Namasté Yoga Studio Closed 15DEC - 3JAN

"Yogi" I don't this problem in my 9.2, didn't see it in 9.1 either. I just tried it to be sure, but renaming a file to .zip shows it to be an archive file. It is set to be opened by ark or archiver. I'm not sure how yours managed to get in the condition it seems to be in, but I'm guessing you have missed a "file association" somewhere that keeps it that way. regards, Lee -- --- KMail v1.7.2 --- SuSE Linux Pro v9.2 --- Registered Linux User #225206 "Don't let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game!"

Aren't OOo files like gzip'd tarfiles? My (perhaps lame) theory is that something munged up the "quick" file type recognition by file extension, so KDE/konqueror does it the "long" way by looking at the actual file contents, and so determes that the file appears to be a zip'd data file.

I don't have this on my 9.1, I have, what I assume are the correct Icons, that being non-archive.
