[SLE] SuSE 10.1 KDE 3.5.3 : restrict beagled to index home directory only
I am happy to see a well done KDE GUI for searching the beagle database. No visible flaws with Kerry, yet. However, configuring the beagle deamon itself seems faulty? I would like to restrict the indexing to my home directory. According to http://beaglewiki.org/Indexing_Data everything gets indexed by default. Which it does when no changes to indexing.xml are made. So I added all directories except /home to the excludes section of indexing.xml [1]. But after restarting, beagled starts with indexing /windows, which has been excluded. So what do I do? Adding .noindex or .neverindex files, as SuSE Help suggests? But then why the indexing.xml file? And why setting the section <IndexHomeDir> to "true" if the daemon indexes everything by default? From the Beagle change log: | Mon May 22 17:32:19 CEST 2006 - joeshaw@suse.de | | - Don't index /windows partitions by default. (bnc #177579) So it seems it was a bug. Dunno if there will be an online update for it.
