Carlos, you really don't have a clue.
Oh yes, I do... It's you who don't have any, I'm afraid. We only have to read this thread to have proof :-P
In your mind Carlos....in your mind.

In more minds then just Carlos' I'm afraid Fred. Businesses that want stability should not be using a bleeding edge version of linux like openSUSE, they should be using the much more stable and longer supported SLES or SLED business versions.
First, they're already using mostly RH. Second, they have new hardware that isn't supported in SLES and SLED, thus I suggested 11.0 with a kernel that does support the hardware AND with the hope to get them to move to SUSE instead of RH. I suspect they'll just stay with RH for now.....renew their support contract. How new is this hardware? Are we talking desktops or servers?

We used to be a redhat shop - sles is much better. trust me. At this point I'd prefer ubuntu server to redhat. Joe -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Both.

I probably would as well. ;) This whole dispute is over what many in IT consider as acceptable installability, and usability of a new release.....of ANY OS from any firm or group. There's a growing expectation, INCLUDING with old timers with Linux, that it's past time that it all simply works properly "out-of-the-box." That is what they want and expect. It's time the community stopped putting down those who have those expectations and started to make it reality. Carlos obviously doesn't give a rip about it, and that's fine....he has a right to his opinion. I have a right to mine as well as do many who have these noble expectations. But then we're the ones who'd like Linux to own 90% of the market instead of MickySoft. ;) Fred -- This message originated from a Linux computer using Open Source software: openSuSE Linux 11.0 No Gates, no Windows....just Linux - STABLE & SECURE! -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Fred... did you really hope to get a support contract from Novell for opensuse? AFAIK, that's not possible. A support contract means SLES or SLED. Opensuse gets community support instead. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. I didn't hope to get anything. THEY didn't either, except software that would work. The point is that (AFAIK) Novell doesn't do support contracts for 11.0. You are comparing a RH with a support contract with a distro that doesn't offer them. Therefore your friends would later reject 11.0 on the basis of not being possible to obtain that support contract, and the dazuko problem is moot. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
