[opensuse] Can't get audio through USB headphones
First off, multimedia is not my strong suit. I'm trying to get music, from a browser or Amarok, to play through USB headphones, but can't seem to. This is on my main desktop, running 15.1. Video chat audio works fine, but not a browser or music player. On my ThinkPad (15.0) it just works fine, as expected. I have gone into the settings in Configure Desktop to check the configuration and have even set to prefer the USB headphones. While the test in the configuration works, that's all that does. Any idea what I can check? Why the big difference between desktop and ThinkPad? tnx jk -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

It's the other way round for me. Works fine for the PC but not for mobile devices. Absolute kills using Zoiper of Skype for LD calls. -- A: Yes. > Q: Are you sure? >> A: Because it reverses the logical flow of conversation. >>> Q: Why is top posting frowned upon? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

in kde, the sound driver (the icon on the taskbar) have two tags, device and application. in application (when it calls for sound) you have a setup jdd -- http://dodin.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I assume you're referring to the icon that looks like a speaker. Yeah, been there, done that, got the T shirt. When I click on it, I see "Headphones (Built-in Analog Stereo)" before plugging in the USB headphones and the music is playing through my audio receiver. When I plug in the headphones, I now also have "Speakers (USB Audio Device Analog Stereo). When I click on it's settings, I see it is default, but no audio comes through. One thing I have noticed is that occasionally, when I plug in the headphones, there is a brief interuption in the audio to the receiver. Also, as I mentioned, the headphone work when using Hangouts or Skype with the same browser as I use to go to Youtube (currently listening to Jethro Tull - Thick As A Brick). At the moment, I'm using Chromium, but the same thing happens with Firefox. Again, it works properly on my ThinkPad. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

One other thing to try would be pavucontrol-qt. While the music is playing go to the playback tab and see which device the music is directed to and see if it matches what you expect. If it does not, you can change it right there. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I spoke too soon. It now plays correctly from Amarok, but still wrong with Chromium and Firefox browsers. :'( -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
