Correct, but then, that was what I was "digging" at. This is wrong, IMHO. Newbies coming from MickySoft have NO idea about how to add a repository nor even why they should have to. Come to think of it........that's a good point. ;) Fred -- If guns cause crime, then pencils cause misspelled words. If guns cause crime, then matches cause arson. Personally I have never seen a reason to upgrade to the latest and greatest OpenOffice on my machines. The old one just works fine for my purposes and for all stuff I can do. And i somehow guess this is true for 99% of all users. Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I like the current system because it follows the Principle of Least Surprise. When I'm installing bugfixes I don't want my software to be unexpectedly upgraded to a completely different version. There are all kinds of situations where that may not be what I want. Even Microsoft follows this logic -- if I go to the Office Updates site, I may get a new service pack for Office 2003, but I won't find that my system has suddenly been upgraded to Office 2007. :) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks! Smart still won't add this repository, but Yast did, and it's updating now. Fred -- If guns cause crime, then pencils cause misspelled words. If guns cause crime, then matches cause arson. The /usr/lib/ooo-2.0 directory is intended. We do do want to change the directory every half a year, so we decided to switch back to ooo-2.0. I'll try to find a better solution, I'll probably add these packages to the OpenOffice.org installation sources. I am still busy with SLED10-SP1, so it might take some time. Please be patient and use the DVD installation sources for now. I see the missing packages also in the oss installation source at ftp://ftp.fi.muni.cz/pub/linux/opensuse/distribution/10.2/repo/oss/suse/noarch/ You can add it as an extra installation source by YaST (just strip the latest two directories): ftp://ftp.fi.muni.cz/pub/linux/opensuse/distribution/10.2/repo/oss/ You can also select another mirror at http://en.opensuse.org/Mirrors_Development_Build -- Best Regards, Petr Mladek software developer --------------------------------------------------------------------- SUSE LINUX, s. r. o. e-mail: pmladek@suse.cz Lihovarská 1060/12 tel: +420 284 028 952 190 00 Prague 9 fax: +420 284 028 951 Czech Republic http://www.suse.cz/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
Since Smart hosed up (hung, quit, froze, whatever) and I killed it with the kill command, subsequent launches give the warning that the configuration is read only, even as root. If I use cli (smart --gui --ignore-locks) then it works. I have looked in what I thought were the obvious places for a lock file but I cannot find it. I also searched through the mail list archives and bug reports for smart to see if anyone else reported the problem but nothing came back. Anyone have a clue how to fix it?
