Hi everyone. We are trying to install an Epson Stylus Colour 760 Printer which Yast2 identifies but will not install. On calling apsfilter.setup after
the Yast2 'Test' button we get an error saying that the apsfilter call was unsuccessful.
SuSE 7.0
Any ideas anyone?
I am getting exactly the same problem with my 740, It all goes well until
Yikes! I *was* going to buy this printer for my mum, who runs 6.4, should / can I run from a USB on 6.4? What's the print quality like? Can you print from the gimp (the one application she really needs)? Has anyone used a USB scanner, such as Epson Perfection under 6.4? Again, can you use it from the xsane plug-in for the gimp? Many thanks! k. On Monday, October 02, 2000 11:54 PM, dids [SMTP:richard@diddyland.com] wrote: pressing the

It worked fantastic with 6.4 and usb. I was quite shocked when it auto-configured it with yast2 ome things the print quality wasnt as good as w9x but, that was probably operator error. I didnt need to spend a huge amount of time on it. With a parallel cable its probably a doddle whatever version you run. dids

I rebuilt my machine last night and during installation 7.0 I specified 1280x1080 (or whatever the measurements were, it was the finer resolution - I have a 21' monitor) and it tested and I was able to see the better resolution. Then when it finished installing I booted up and went went into X I got my resolution at 640x480 with the screen set to 1280x1000 (You know how when you move the mouse to the side of the screen it scrolls it) Ugh, I hate that. This has happened before and I always forget what .inf/.rc/.conf file has the setting for this. Please point me in the right direction. Also, when I used 6.4 I added another user using standard unix 'adduser' command ... however I noticed it didn't create a home directory and copy all X settings into it. Is there a script somewhere that can do this? -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq

Make a backup of your /etc/XF86Config file, and then edit it as follows: o Find the "Screen" section o Find the various "Modes" lines withing that section move the part of the line that gives your resolution to the start of the list, for example: Modes "640x480" "1024x768" becomes Modes "1024x768" "640x480" For the adding user bit, the only suggestion I can make just now is to use the 'User Administration' feature of YaST.
