reinitialize optical drives without rebooting
Dear all: Sometimes my optical drives (CD-ROM) hang up and I have to reboot the computer if I want to use the again. How could I reinitialize them without rebooting? eg unloading and reloading the drivers or doing something simliar by hand that init process does. Thanks, IG ____________________________________________________________________________ Ingyenes hirdetés feladás az [origo] aprón! Már több mint 180.000 ajánlat! http://apro.origo.hu/

I had similar problem in the past. One of the writers behaved that way. It was doing under windows as well, and ended up to be a bad device. First try to see if DMA is enabled for the devise, and if so, disable it. Anyway, reloading drivers will not help, as it seems there are some low level initialization involved. With mine, even reboot did not help, I had to shut down the machine and power it on again in order to get over the lock. So, YMMV :) -- -- Svetoslav Milenov (Sunny)
