[opensuse] USB device as a mic on 10.2
Hello all- I've been away from the list for a bit, but I'm having an issue with a new device I picked up. The device is the Instant Music from ADS Tech. It basically has RCA inputs and a USB hookup so you can 'rip' from any deivce with RCA outputs (record player, tape player, etc). Well, 10.2 seems to recognize the device partly. usb 2-1.1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 5 usb 2-1.1: new device found, idVendor=08bb, idProduct=2902 usb 2-1.1: new device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0 usb 2-1.1: Product: USB Audio CODEC usb 2-1.1: Manufacturer: Burr-Brown from TI usb 2-1.1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice usbcore: registered new driver snd-usb-audio usbcore: registered new driver hiddev input: Burr-Brown from TI USB Audio CODEC as /class/input/input3 input: USB HID v1.00 Device [Burr-Brown from TI USB Audio CODEC ] on usb-0000:00:10.0-1.1 usbcore: registered new driver usbhid drivers/usb/input/hid-core.c: v2.6:USB HID core driver /proc/asound/cards also sees the card: 1 [default ]: USB-Audio - USB Audio CODEC Burr-Brown from TI USB Audio CODEC at usb-0000:00:10.0-1.1, full And hwinfo --usb shows that things look good as well. Driver Status: snd_usb_audio is active When I open KMix, I can select it as a mixer: "USB Audio CODEC", but I only have an Output tab, no Input :( Is there something special I need to do in order for the system to see this thing as a USB input device? Anyone know what's going on? I don't really have a lot of experiece with audio input. thanks, brian -- Brian Jackson Photo Sports ~ People ~ Events http://www.BrianJacksonPhoto.com -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Brian - A few hours before your message, I ordered a "PlusDeck 2
cassette deck for PC" in order to convert my collection of cassettes to
digital format. The specs say that it comes with "20-pin cable, Mic in,
Line in, Speaker Out cables, Serial cable." No USB. I assumed that, in
order to use the PlusDeck, I would have to reboot into Windows.
If I could use this player in Linux it would be much more convenient for
me. I would appreciate any information and advice that you and anyone
answering your query might have.
TIA. Kelly

Hi Kelly- Good luck with your device. I don't have the option of 'rebooting into windows', I don't run windows. The last major app I ran under wine was ported to Linux, so I don't even use wine that often. I could always plug it into the wife's computer, but the goal is to get this to work under 10.2. It just seems so close with most of it being recognized, just not as an input device. :( brian -- Brian Jackson Photo Sports ~ People ~ Events http://www.BrianJacksonPhoto.com -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Hmmmmm. I'm using SuSE 9.2 and plan to move to Ubuntu 6.10 or openSUSE
10.2 soon and then install Crossover Office. I wonder if the Plusdeck's
sw would work with Crossover?
Thanks. Kelly

Plusdeck for Linux and Apple Macintosh is not available yet. look at the "yet", may be if you insist... jdd -- http://www.dodin.net Votez pour nous, merci - vote for us, thanks :-) http://musique.sfrjeunestalents.fr/artiste/Magic-Alliance/ http://photo.sfrjeunestalents.fr/artiste/jddphoto/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
