Menu's and fonts in openoffice
Hi all, I've recently switched from Fedora core 1 to Suse 9.0 professional. The problem that i have is that the fonts used in menus in openoffice (and most of the screen fonts as well) look very smoothered ("crappy" would be another word matching the look) and does not even closely look as great as the rest of the desktop ! any pointers as to what might be wrong ? Or is this simply how Openoffice looks in Suse ? Regards Lasse Christiansen

I think I'm experiencing the same thing with other applications. I'm new to Linux and have now got the desktop fonts looking exactly as I want them. But I've just installed Netscape 7, Opera, and Firefox, and the application fonts are awful and certainly do not match the "Application Font" I've set up in Linux. In one of the programs I tried altering its own fonts, but it doesn't seem to have any effect. -- Chris Simon osian@zetnet.co.uk http://www.users.zetnet.co.uk/csimon/
I did not try out mozilla and opera before now ! And i have exactly the same problem as with Openoffice as well ! Somebody must have figured this one out ? Any pointers ? Regards Lasse Quoting Chris Simon <osian@zetnet.co.uk>:

Good day Lasse, YaST2 -> Online Update -> Select a mirror and press the Next button -> Somewhere in the patch list is an optional option to fetch and install the MS fonts. Because of licensing they can't be put on the CDs for sale, but they can be downloaded and installed from the net gratis. Try it. Perhaps it helps. Best regards :o) Johnny :o)
